HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls hosted the Third Annual Youth Club Summit at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, March 18.
The Summit served as an educational experience for local youth clubs to gain more information on current youth topics, share ideas and best practices with other club partners.
“As the leading youth development system we are committed to engaging with the local youth soccer community and providing education and knowledge sharing opportunities, said Senior Director of Youth Programs, Dave Jervis. “Soccer development starts at the grassroots and through our player development Red Print and events like the Youth Club Summit we are able to share our extensive resources and programming.
The event was attended by over 75 members of the RBNY Youth Soccer Partner Community and provided club members the opportunity to hear from keynote speakers, including Ian Barker, Director of Coaching Education for the United Soccer Coaches (formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America).
Barker shared key components relevant to parents and coaches regarding creating cohesion within the club model and shaping club culture, as well as parent and coach education & making it part of the club’s DNA; Rick Meana, Director of Coaching for NJYS discussed best practices for starting and operating a TOPS Soccer Program; Logan Smith, Director of Strategy and Analytics shared ideas to enhance your clubs Digital Footprint; Alex Bard joined us from the United States Soccer Foundation to update our club partners on sourcing grants for your club’s development.
Additionally, Red Bulls Training Programs hosted a Panel Discussion on a hot topic relevant to our club partners: Tryouts? Are they needed? Is there a better way? The panel was moderated by Senior Director of Youth Programs, Dave Jervis who was joined by RBNY Youth Academy Director, David Longwell, RBTP Regional Manager, Steve Jones, Rick Meana, and Ian Barker.
