HARRISON, N.J. – The New York Red Bulls hosted the Fourth Annual Youth Club Summit at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, March 3rd.
The Summit served as an educational experience for local youth clubs to gain more information on current youth topics, share ideas and best practices with other club partners.
The event was attended by over 75 members of the RBNY Youth Soccer Partner Community and provided club members the opportunity to hear from keynote speakers, including Dr. Matt Robinson, Molly Whittacker, and Rick Meana as well as members of the Red Bulls Youth Programs staff.
Dr. Robinson shared key insights relevant to parents and coaches regarding building a club of the future. As a representative of PCA (Positive Coach Alliance), Molly Whittacker spoke about the importance of clubs partnering with parents and strategies to align both parties. The attendees were treated to demo training session conducted by Red Bulls Coach Education Manager, Max DuBane, and showcased the difference between a coach centered environment vs a player centered environment.
Additional afternoon sessions included Rick Meana of New Jersey Youth Soccer sharing strategies to develop a program for 3-6yr olds. During this session, Bryan Alcantara of the Red Bulls unveiled the clubs newly designed “Young Bulls Programs” that is offered to youth organizations. Steve Jones, a Regional Manager for the Red Bulls Youth Programs, lead a session discussing Red Bulls approach to tryout management, player selection, and forming teams.
To close the event, Red Bulls Youth Programs hosted a Panel Discussion on a hot topic relevant to our club partners: “Winning or Player Development: Which Should We Choose?” The panel was moderated by Senior Director of Youth Programs, Dave Jervis who was joined by Rick Meana, RBYP Regional Manager Jerome Vivona, Dr. Robinson, and Marguerite Ferrell of US Soccer.
