New York Red Bulls Believe Program and Kick for a Cure
Armonk, NY - On Monday, February 20, 2012 the New York Red Bulls participated in Kick for a Cure to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The event was coordinated by Mahopac Soccer Club in partnership with the New York Red Bulls Believe Program and the Armonk Indoor Sports Center.
Jacqueline Stack, a player for the Mahopac Soccer Club, has Cystic Fibrosis (CF). She was diagnosed at 8 months old with CF and is now an 11 year old who loves to run track, dance, and, of course, play soccer. Jacqueline and more than 125 other players played in sessions conducted by New York Red Bulls trainers and were dazzled by the Red Bulls Street Team. After plenty of kicks and games, raffle winners were picked including soccer balls and vouchers for New York Red Bulls Summer camps. The event proudly raised nearly $5,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to continue research to find a cure.
The New York Red Bulls brought along special guest and friend of the Red Bulls Training Programs family, Steven Bell. Steven has been living with CF for 28 years while playing soccer throughout his youth, high school, and college. He credits soccer as the main reason for being as healthy as he is today. Battling CF everyday did not stop him from pursuing his dreams. His story is an inspiration to all young players.
Jacqueline is an amazing inspiration to all of us here at the New York Red Bulls, we wish her the best of luck and we can’t wait to work with her and the Mahopac Soccer Club on the next Kick for a Cure!
