Red Bulls Announce 2017 Long Island RDS Try-Outs

The Long Island Regional Development School (RDS) hosted and sponsored by Long Island Junior Soccer League, has provided heavily subsidized, high-end training to Long Island’s most talented soccer players for the past seven years.

Established in the fall of 2010, the Long Island RDS has consistently attracted LIJSL’s elite, and provided a unique environment that allows the top players from around the area to receive additional technical instruction, thus supplementing their existing team training without conflicting with their regular team commitments.

Open to boys and girls aged 7 to 12 (born from January 1st to December 31st in 2010, 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006 & 2005 birth years), the program caters to players at a crucial time of their technical, tactical, and physical development. Over 600 players have benefitted from this training, by partaking in three seasons of low-cost training each year, throughout the fall, winter, and spring.

The primary objective of the RDS is to provide a highly competitive environment designed to develop those already at an advanced level of soccer. However, an additional goal of the RDS is to provide a platform for the truly gifted players to progress to Red Bulls Academy, one of the nation’s leading Academy systems. Since its inception, close to thirty players from the Long Island RDS have graduated to Red Bulls Academy, with well over one hundred additional players representing the Red Bulls RDS in Showcase Tournament play.

Now entering its eighth year, try-outs for the Long Island Regional Development School are just around the corner. On-line registration opens to the public at 9:00am on Friday, September 1st, and is open to the first 400 applicants.

Subject to acceptance, the RDS features 20 weeks of supplementary training, all on Tuesday evenings, at a combination of Peter Collins Soccer Park (Plainview) and Long Island Sports Complex (Freeport). Historically, the try-outs have reached capacity within the first 48 hours of registration being opened to the public. Further details on this year’s program, and information on how to register on-line, can be found at: http://www.rbnytraining.com/user-pages/public/camps/select-session.asp?CAMP_ID=3570&

Subject to acceptance, participation in the fall 2017 to spring 2018 program is subject to a nominal fee. Long Island Junior Soccer League continue to demonstrate their commitment to the development of youth soccer players by continuing to sponsor the vast majority of the training costs, although participants will be required to commit to two easy installments of $185.

Still the most affordable route into the RDS on a year-round basis, the LIJSL RDS represents an opportunity not to be missed for Long Island’s most talented players.
