The Morris United TOPSoccer Program (an outreach program for soccer) is a community-based training and team program for young players with special needs established in 2010 by the Stefanick children – Ryan, Kelly and Caitlin.

Collaborating with NJ Youth Soccer this spring, the New York Red Bulls organization offered the instruction and guidance of their professional trainers to the practice sessions of the Morris United TOPSoccer Program.

The program is currently directed by the youngest Stefanick, Ryan, who is a junior at Delbarton School. His twin sisters will be graduating from the University of Chicago in June.

As soccer players, the three looked to share their love of the sport beyond their school and travel soccer teams. They wished to create a program to develop and advance children in the sport of soccer.

Several players have progressed to play in their town soccer leagues. The program consists of soccer buddies (NJYS trained high school soccer players through USYS TOPSoccer guidelines) who, along with the assistance and counseling of the program’s field marshal, David Donovan (head coach for Delbarton Soccer), happily welcomed the recent participation of New York Red Bulls professional trainers.

This spring, the New York Red Bulls organization offered the instruction and guidance of their professional trainers to the practice sessions of the Morris United TOPSoccer Program.

During these sessions, each participant is paired with a soccer buddy to learn about the game of soccer and to become a more active participant in the team sport.

The Red Bulls trainers successfully integrated themselves into the TOPSoccer team and have been positively influential in broadening the scope of the soccer instruction, which has greatly benefitted the participants and soccer buddies.

As stated by the co-founder and current director, Ryan Stefanick, “The program looks to teach and develop players in the sport and the involvement of the professional Red Bulls trainers has immensely increased the program’s ability to deliver high quality training techniques and developmental tools to advance our soccer players. The joint effort of Morris United TOPSoccer and the Red Bulls organization is a rewarding experience that reinforces our primary goal of bettering the lives of others.”
