John Wolyniec, after ending his 12 year career in MLS in July 2010, began working with Red Bull Academy part time in August 2010. He came on full time in January 2011 as an assistant coach focusing mainly as an individual technical coach. His experience playing for New York Red Bull from 2006-10, gives him the unique ability to give young players first hand knowledge on what it takes to become a New York Red Bull.
John is a native New Yorker, who grew up in Staten Island NY. He attended Monsignor Farrell High School and went on to graduate from Fordham University with a BS in Mathematics. Playing for Fordham from 1995-98, Wolyniec led the NCAA Division I in scoring twice and holds the school records for both career goals and assists. Drafted 7th overall in 1999 by the New York franchise, John had 3 different stints playing in his hometown. In 12 years he played for 5 different MLS teams as well as 3 USL teams. In 2004, he earned two caps for the US National team. John is tied for third all-time in regular season games, with 142, for New York and is the only Red Bull to score a goal in an MLS Cup final. John also holds a USSF "B" coaching license.
