Damien Franolich is in his second season with the New York Red Bulls Academy serving as the full time Academy Athletic Trainer. Franolich joined the Red Bulls Academy in February 2010 after working part-time with the Academy during the summer of 2009. He served as the Director of Sports Medicine for the Newark Ironbound Express of the United Soccer Leagues Premier Development League for the 2008 and 2009 seasons.
Franolich comes to the New York Red Bulls Academy from Seton Hall University where he served as the primary athletic trainer for the Women’s Soccer and Baseball teams from 2007-2010. He joined the Seton Hall athletic training staff after serving as an assistant athletic trainer at New Jersey Institute of Technology from 2004--07. At NJIT he was assigned to the baseball, women’s soccer, and basketball teams. His hiring at Seton Hall represented a return to Seton Hall as he served as an athletic training student and part-time athletic trainer for the Pirates while completing his Masters of Science in athletic training in 2004. In May 2000, Franolich graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Bachelor of Science in economics while working for two years as a student athletic trainer with Vanderbilt Sports Medicine.
He is a member of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association and is a NATABOC certified athletic trainer.
